New Hampshirepalooza, and Wienergate, too!
It was a week of contrasts for Republican candidates and potential candidates. In Stratham, New Hampshire, former Governor Mitt Romney announced is second run for the White House with a quintessential New Hampshire backdrop of a Seacoast farm. But less than 20 miles away, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin rained on his parade with a “clambake” in nearby Seabrook. And an hour or so north, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani made his own foray to the Granite State with a stop in North Conway. What’s a tieless, chili-eating, Olympics-running management consultant to do?

There was chatter that Governor Palin and Mayor Giuliani had violated an unwritten protocol by holding their respective events within within a few miles and a few hours of Governor Romney’s announcement. Personally, I thought it was all fair game, and I’ve never heard of these dubious “protocols.” Yes, it’s bad form to for political opponents to speak ill of a President’s foreign policy when the U.S. head of state is traveling overseas, but that’s as far as it goes.

Jon Karl, ABC News’ Senior Political Correspondent, is one of the most seasoned and well-traveled reporters in network news working today. He scored one of the zanier interviews with Congressmen Wiener as his Twitter scandal erupted and weighs in with his take on the current GOP field.
Scot Lehigh is a prolific columnist for the Globe and a legend of New Hampshire Primary press coverage going back to my first campaign in 1988. Scot, who has followed Mitt Romney as closely as any reporter working today, watched the former governor’s announcement from point blank range.
Josh Rogers, NHPR’s statehouse reporter, has covered Granite State politics since 2000 and crashed Sarah Palin’s bus tour in Seabrook. His voice, and those of his colleagues, offer welcome company to solitary New Hampshire drivers as they ply Interstate 89 and 93, from Massachusetts to the Canadian border.
